Den Sødeste Vals
Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune
A fine waltz from Denmark. Den Sødeste Vals means 'The Sweetest Waltz', and you can hear just that in the melody. The tune is often played in G, however we have transposed this one to Bb as it had a softer sound. This is a wonderfully simple tune to add your waltz repertoire, for those of you looking for a gentle sound. Come and here Sebastian talk about the specific tuning he used on his guitar and how to implement the tuning for other songs and tunes, over on our behind the scenes video for this one: www.patreon.com/thegoodtune

Femskaft

Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune One of the all time great tunes to be found in the Danish folk tradition. The tune is, as almost all are in Danish trad, an older dance tune with a specific dance to the tune. The dance is from an island called Møn, so the tune and dance are often referred to as Femskaft fra Møn (Femskaf...

Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune Just another superb sønderhoning from the island of Fanø, Denmark. Sønderhonings are traditionally played for the type of dance - a sønderhoning - where couples dance around the room using a specific step movement. This is why the style and tempo are as they are, making for a unique tune...

Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune The perhaps lesser known of the two Morpeth Rants, although by no means inferior! The Old Morpeth and New Morpeth rant are commonly played and have become signature tunes in the Northumbrian tradition. The B part of the two tunes is where the most obvious variation is, enough to warrant ...

Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune A delightful Scottish strathspey, played in the Scottish and Cape Breton repertoire. Sheet music and play-along backing tracks for many of our tunes available here - www.patreon.com/thegoodtune Cobbler's Hornpipe is a 3/2 hornpipe from England, fit for any player wanting to play a driving tune in D minor. The A and B part are fairly similar, which makes for easy learning and potential creative harmonisation to keep things interesting. We really enjoyed recording this one, even ...

I love how people all over the world are touched by beauty. Your musicality really shines through. Thank you guys!! I can always count on you to brighten up my day!
Great! I'd like you to come to Japan!
2 great tunes played at a good speed for English Country Dancing ... Thanks Fellas
This was in the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice . Lovely . Skal
Thanks guys for playing at a nice steady pace that allows us to really appreciate this beautiful mazurka. So many folks make a race of these old tunes and, for me at least, that destroys them
OMG I loved this on the Alasdair Fraser album with Jodie Strecher! Like, decades this has been one of my favorite fiddle tunes!
This one is unique. ❤
Hi! American fiddler here, I was wondering what tuning y'all use on your fiddles for this delightful jig? This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard and need to start learning ASAP 😄
Hi! Fiddles are tuned in standard GDAE tuning. Happy learning! Sheets and backing tracks available on at www.patreon.com/thegoodtune if you need 😀
Is this in GDAE tuning? I've played it in AEAE as Garry Harris wrote it and had trouble . This sounds great without the drones.
Ahh bouzouki too? Niice. I always appreciate the music, my fiddler friend and i just had a play at my house, only two of us, so it seemed a little lonely, not many who play trad music in malaysia. So we put on some of your past tunes and played together. Thanks for being our unwitting fellow session musicians. Also who ever designed your logo is a genius
As a music teacher: this sounds nothing like Swedish folk music...
The tune is actually a traditional Polska from Småland, Sweden! Taught to us by the wonderful Swedish folk musician, flute player and good friend Andreas Ralsgård. Not only did he teach us the tune, he also taught us the harmony he wrote. This is our own arrangement of the two parts for violin and guitar.
Lovely
That is, quite beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing that!!
Is it DADGAD tuning on the guitar?
Sweeeet! :)
Such a beautiful waltz! Great sound of the bouzouki and what a guitar!!!
Amazing music as always!! Love your music ❤
Just put me in the best mood - lovely.
Melody and harmony demonstrably being created by two very competent musicians. Beautiful! More bouzouki pieces lads. Wonderful sound!
There was a bit of a glut of Scandinavian tunes going around the English sessions pre-covid and I kinda got burnt out on them, mostly because they were ALL Swedish polskas, somehow (even went to one session where they played nothing but polskas for 2 hours straight) 😅 But this is a lovely tune and very sweetly played, and will be going on my to-learn list. A real pleasure to listen to 😀
Scandi can of course be more than the polska! This one is great to have in the repertoire for any session.
@@thegoodtunesAbsolutely! I’m partial to a slängpolska, although I guess that’s just another Polska variant 🙈
robert_may . Agree. But this is lovely. Love the bouzouki
Beautiful! Nice work guys!
Really lovely tune! And, as always, the playing was lovely, as well. Miss the fiddle but love the bouzouki.
Beautiful!
So beautiful thank you.
Hi Guys, that was a lovely piece of music.I found it relaxing to listen to😊
Lovely to hear, Leonard
Thank you for playing this one. Just learned it on the fiddle and your version is sweet
Woohoo!
Is guitar in standard tuning?
Really lovely. Superb musicianship.
Beautiful tune! But I can't find the sheet music on Patreon!
Hi Deb, it’s on its way! It’s been requested by a few already so it’s gone to the top of the list.
Now it's available on Patreon, Deb! www.patreon.com/posts/anglaise-sheet-106985674
@@thegoodtunes HURRAY!!
That transition into Fisher’s is something else!!! 🤯
I love this tune! I looked around for other versions and see that the chords shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. I sure would appreciate a chord chart that follows what Sebastian is doing. I follow Good Tune on Patreon. I don't see this tune on the Patreon channel.
We’ll put it on the list to do as soon as possible! 🙂
Heard this in a movie. Now I know it's name.
Excellent ( as always)!!
Ну точно ирландская музыка
How have I only just found this… Dynamics like this should be illegal- Mind Blown!!! 🤯
That grin is everything! Love these moments that happen with absolutely no warning. As a dance caller sometimes bands will do something a bit off the cuff just to see if I react with a look of ‘you don’t get away with that without me noticing’ and then we all just have to try and keep our composure without laughing hysterically! It’s not easy! 😂
Haha yes!
After my fourteenth time of hearing this, it must be said: it's a "melody sweetly played in tune" This must be the tune Bobby Burns referred to in his poem, but I doubt he heard it from a better player. There's a famous tune called "The Fisher's Hornpipe" that reminds me of this. It's sometimes called "the vicious hornpipe" because it's so easy to segue by accident into another tune. But it's a wonderful, jaunty piece of work. The Morpeth Rant on the other hand, as played here, is jubilant, lovely and heart filling. I love them both. On another note, my Dad was stationed in England and Scotland during WWII. What I heard about it most was the "beauty of English melodies". He was quite taken by them, as am I.
Thanks guys! That's one of my favorites!
The tonal quality you both produce is mesmerising. I'd be interested to read more about your guitar and set up Sebastian. Aside from your deep talent at playing, what helps produce the tone you get? Guitar make, weight of strings, picks, would be interesting to know. You've tuned to CGCGCG in the notes. Would you mostly use this tuning for accompanying in The Good Tune or are there others? How do you decide?
This is so, so good in all respects. When is the CD coming out please?
Toe tapping for sure!
WHOOOOOOO!
That was just lovely - thanks!
Sweet!
Cool tune! I'm going to try to learn this on the Mountain Dulcimer. Thank you!
You guys are awesome! Magical tune!
